Offline Update

Upgrading to the newest version. A Question. 13 May 2008 06:26

I just d/l the latest version of the great Offline Update program. I
have used earlier versions of the program, and now when I want to
install the new version (4.8) I want to check that I do it correctly. 
I have an earlier version, which is installed and used, ie I have
created an XP ISO. I remember at one time that I downloaded a new
version of Offline Update, and as I was not sure how to update the
existing one, so I just copied the UpdateGenerator.exe program to the
old installation folder, replacing the old program. But that caused
lots of problems. 

So, can someone tell me what is the proper way of updating the
program itself? So that I do not loose all the XP updates that I
already have downloaded using an earlier version of Offline Update?
Or must I do everything from scratch every time I update the Offline
Update program?
