More security for OpenSolaris

Sun Microsystems and the National Security Agency (NSA), the US security authority, want to work together to extend OpenSolaris with security mechanisms in the form of Mandatory Access Control (MAC). The architecture is to be based on FLASK (Flux Advanced Security Kernel). FLASK permits system-controlled access-control mechanisms in the form of defined policies, and also forms the basis of the SE Linux, also developed by the NSA, that is used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora.
