Renault is a new customer for Microsoft and Novell

Microsoft and Novell have won a new key customer, Renault. The French car manufacturer will be migrating its servers, which currently run on various versions of Linux, to the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server. Renault hopes that this consolidation will improve interoperability; the firm also plans to take greater advantage of the benefits of virtualisation. As part of the deal, Microsoft will be supplying Renault with around a thousand support certificates for Novell's SuSE Linux Enterprise Server.

In the agreement that Microsoft and Novell reached at the end of 2006, Microsoft purchases support certificates from the Linux distributor and provides them to customers; Novell provides the support itself.
