Apple patches AirPort

Apple has recently been having a ball with patches. It has now provided yet another firmware update for AirPort Extreme 802.11n WLAN base stations in order to close a denial-of-service hole.

Apple gives no further details in its security advisory, saying only that file sharing can be brought to a standstill by crafted AFP requests. AirPort Extreme models with Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, with firmware versions before 7.3.1, are affected.

The update can be installed via Apple's Software Update. Apple is however also offering updates for downloading on a dedicated page with installers for Windows, Mac OS X Leopard and Tiger.
